Rio voted best music video of all time

A poll of around 40,000 viewers of MTV has just voted for their greatest music video of all time.

Duran Duran's 'Rio' has been voted the winner, with Bjork's robotic video 'All Is Full Of Love' second, A-ha's 1985 video 'Take On Me' came third, while Michael Jackson's 'Thriller' followed in fourth.

Sigur Ros's surreal promo for 'Svefn-g-Englar' took fifth place, followed by Nirvana's 1991 video 'Smells Like Teen Spirit'.

Radiohead's 'Just Video', Jamiroquai's 'Virtual Insanity', Madonna's 'Like A Prayer' and OK GO's 'Here It Goes Again' rounded out the top ten.

No way is Rio the greatest video of all time, who the heck voted in this poll, what about 'Sledgehammer' or 'Bohemian Rhapsody' or 'You Can Call Me All' or loads more I could name but cannot think of right now, need to have a look at the full list.

Depeche Mode

Depeche Mode are our Star of the 80s.

Depeche Mode are an English electronic music band formed in 1980, in Basildon, Essex. The group's original line-up was Dave Gahan (lead vocals), Martin Gore (keyboards, guitar, vocals, chief songwriter after 1981), Andrew Fletcher (keyboards) and Vince Clarke (keyboards, chief songwriter 1980–81).

Depeche Mode are one of the longest-lived, most successful and influential bands to have emerged from the New Romantic and New Wave era. They have had forty-five songs in the UK Singles Chart, as well as one US and two UK number one albums. According to their record company Mute Records, Depeche Mode have sold over 72 million records worldwide.

Vince Clarke left the band after the release of their 1981 debut album, and was replaced by Alan Wilder (lead keyboards) who was a band member from 1982 to 1995. Following Wilder's departure, Gahan, Gore, and Fletcher have continued as a trio.
